I'm just two days shy of two months since my last post. I think this is the farthest behind I have let myself get. The last nine months have been the hardest of my life and I haven't been motivated to blog or even scrapbook about it because of the pain it causes. I'm not brave enough to talk about the specifics but I'm going to do my best to pick this back up because it's not all pain and tears and I want to remember that good things happened too.
Here are some pictures from Easter. It's been too long to remember specifics but I wanted to share anyway.
We had our Easter Egg Hunt at Grandma Bonnie's the week before. I was helping Brigham find his eggs so I couldn't take pictures. I asked Jaaromy to take some and this is all I got. Oh well. We also had a hunt at Grandma Patti's on Easter but I didn't get pictures there either. I'm going to have to copy some of hers.
We colored eggs on Sunday afternoon. Nothing fancy, just crayon usually.
Silly Jonathan
Brigham dictated to me what he wanted written on his eggs. I don't remember what they said. I think one of them said "I like books". His other eggs were similar.
Jonathan got a slinky dog is his Easter basket and he had a lot of fun tormenting Nathaniel with it.
Toothless Brigham is still cute.
Coloring eggs never seems to take very long, we had them all decorated pretty quick.
The next day we had our Easter FHE. It always seems to work better to have it right after Easter rather than almost a whole week before. It's pretty much the same lesson every year but it's a good one and the boys have fun.
We hid our special Easter eggs and Jonathan worked hard to find them all.
With a little help, Brigham found some too.
Before long we were down to the last egg.
Two years ago I took a picture of Nathaniel finding the last egg and it turned out to be one of my favorite pictures ever.
I love the little half smile on his face and I love that Jonathan is visibly devastated. I don't actually love that he's devastated, it's just funny that it's so obvious.
Nathaniel noticed that he was wearing the same shirt this year as he was two years ago and wanted to recreate the moment.
Except this year, Jonathan found the last egg. Nathaniel did a good job pretending to be devastated.
Then we came inside and opened each egg and talked about each stage of the Crucifixion and Resurrection. I've found that having a picture to go with each one, or as many as I can, is really helpful in telling the story.
Brigham even read a little. He's getting to be such a good little reader.
We watched the Easter Bible video on the Mormon Channel and had treats. It was a great FHE. I asked Jonathan what he remembered about the video and he named at least seven events that happened, IN ORDER! I was so impressed. Recounting events is hard, but he did great.
I am so sorry to hear about all the pain and trials you are going through. I just wanted to send you a virtual hug. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. The pictures in this post are beautiful. I love your camera. The pictures of the boys finding the last egg are awesome. Super cute. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, it's good to remember all the good moments that happen cuz I feel like those aren't usually the first things you remember. I was just looking back the other day to when Sydney was born and everything I'd forgotten, plus I feel like then I get to see what you are up to! I hope it gets better, and I love the pics, such a fun Easter!
